New Bus Service Proposal
The City Councill is looking to introduce a new bus service. This service would depart Southend Travel Centre, then travel along Central Avenue through to Hamstel Road and then go towards the cemetery/crematorium and finish at Southend Airport.
Please can you show your support for this proposed new bus service, by sending an e-mail or a letter endorsing the new service and if and how you would be using it.

Change to X30 service from 12th April
"Currently, the service operates in two sections within the Southend area, with one bus an hour serving Southend Airport and one bus an hour serving Prittlewell Chase. Having analysed the passenger numbers closely, we have found the demand for the airport route has been consistently low for the past couple of years, averaging approximately 15 passengers per day. "Keeping the demand in mind, all X30 journeys will now follow a single, consistent route via Southbourne Grove and Prittlewell Chase, with the route being more popular with our passengers and the change allowing us to provide a more sustainable service. The airport will remain well connected by public transport, with an adjacent railway station and other frequent local bus services available."

Approval of the 2026/7 Budget
Cllr Daniel Cowan, Leader of Southend-on-Sea City Council, said: "I am proud that council has approved our budget, a budget focused on civic pride, stability, and delivering on the everyday priorities of our residents."
"We are taking practical decisions that help people day to day, such as freezing parking charges, cutting a fiver from garden waste collections, removing peak-time restrictions for disabled bus pass holders, and keeping costs down wherever we can.
These choices sit alongside continued investment in the things residents tell us matter most. "We are maintaining our record investment in fixing roads and pavements, improving parks and open spaces, and safeguarding libraries, family centres, and cultural assets. At the same time, we are investing in housing, regeneration, and frontline services so residents' concerns are met now while planning responsibly for the long term.
